Black Mountain Weeding Work Party 6 March 2021 Saturday, 6 March 2021 - 8:30am to 11:30am

Next weeding work party will be in the south eastern area of Black Mountain.

Meet: bottom row of ANBG Southern Carpark. Come through the main gates, turn left very soon after, and park in this bottom row. Look for banners.

Wear:  hat, sunscreen, long-sleeved shirt, long pants, gloves, stout shoes.

THURSDAY TALK - Dr Linda Broadhurst 'Connecting Indigenous and scientific plant names’ Thursday, 4 March 2021 - 12:30pm to 1:30pm

This talk will discuss our proposal to co-develop processes and practices with Indigenous communities to connect Indigenous and scientific plant names to improve the conservation and management of our Australian flora.

Presenter: Rodney Garnett

Rodney will share the stories behind some photos captured by his heroes and how stories are an important part of a portfolio. He will also show how stories can be used to generate successful images and illustrate some techniques on how to tell a story in a photo through examples of his work.

Wear: Sturdy walking gear, including hat and stout shoes.

This talk is about monitoring resident and rehabilitated koalas in the Monaro region to guide decisions about the management and conservation of koalas after fire.  It will be held in the TELSTRA TOWER THEATRETTE.

Meet: Visitor Centre, ANBG

Time:  10:30 am to 12 noon

Bring: Binoculars if you wish. Water and any snacks you might need

Wear:  Walking shoes and hat 

In late summer/early autumn butterflies abound in the ANBG. Join our local expert, Suzi Bond, in observing these elusive creatures in the Gardens. Spot Imperial Jezebels, Australian Painted Ladies and Common Brown Butterflies as well as discover the plants they prefer.

Meet:  Caswell Drive entry on the mountain side.

Drive from Belconnen Way southwards along Caswell Drive towards Glenloch Interchange, Woden, or Tuggeranong. Note the yellow diamond-shaped advisory sign showing access road on left (mountain side) and the blue and white “P” sign for parking. Pull into the carpark carefully. Look for banners.
