EVENTS AND ACTIVITIES HAVE BEEN CANCELLED

COVID-19 virus image

All public events and activities at the ANBG for March and April have been cancelled or postponed, due to the national effort to limit the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

This is a difficult and disappointing decision for the Gardens, but is necessary to safeguard public health and safety.

The Visitor Centre is now mainly ‘self-service’, with additional signage and maps available at the desk. All guided walks and Flora tours, Thursday Talks and other public meetings and events scheduled for March and April have been cancelled, including the Summer Sounds concerts and the Plant Sale. The Banksia Festival previously set for April has been postponed until Spring.

The Growing Friends have survived the heat, the smoke and finally the hail. Just one more setback was waiting in the wings for us. Our usual venue is now a construction site while the substantial damage done to the Banks Building during the January hailstorm is being repaired.

Growing Friends in the summer of 2019-20

The 2019-20 summer has been one of the worst summers ever for Gardeners in Canberra. While the activities of Growing Friends has been adversely affected by the weather, the hard work of our members has meant that we have come through the summer in a reasonable state.
