Genevieve Jacobs, ANBG’s 50th Anniversary Champion, was guest speaker at the 2020 Volunteer Recognition ceremony, hosted by Dr Judy West, Executive Director ANBG, and Neville Page, President of the Friends of the ANBG, on 10 November at the Crosbie-Morrison Amphitheatre and Lawn.

Genevieve spoke of the diverse talents and experience that volunteers bring to any organisation, and how their contribution brings so much to fruition. Max Bourke AM, immediate past-President of the Friends, spoke of such valuable commitment being a key element of the successful Friends of the ANBG.

The 2020 award recipients were recognised for their voluntary commitment for several years in different areas of activity, including several who have served for as long as 25 and 20 years. Many are involved in several areas of activity because of their multiple interests.

30 years - many more to come!

Friends 30-year anniversary logo

This year is our 30th Anniversary, and it is delightful that 43 Friends have been members since 1990.

In that time, membership and donations have contributed more than $1.6 million to the ANBG, in projects and specialist equipment. There are more projects already under way, and the Friends are keen to contribute to the major new additions to the Gardens in the next few years.

The Gardens are looking beautiful this spring after a year of smoke, hail and COVID-19. Now is also the time when Friends memberships are due. We thank the Friends who have already renewed their memberships and are enjoying its benefits in these beautiful and popular Gardens.

We need your support to continue our assistance to the Gardens into the future – so if you have not yet renewed your membership, please consider doing so.

If you are not yet a member of the Friends of the ANBG then please join to take advantage of the many benefits.
