Guided walks in March

In the month of March some of the regular guided walks will have a special focus. The regular guided walks at 11:00 am and 2pm on Saturday March 9th, will feature bush tucker plants. During Eucalypt week (23rd March to 31st March), the 11:00 am walks will focus on Eucalypts.  Two special walks looking at things that aren't quite what they seem, will also be held on the 30th and 31st March.

The 12th Annual Exhibition - More Than Just a Pretty Plant - 16th March to 14th April in the VIC Gallery 9:30am to 4:30pm each day

This year's exhibition celebrates native plants and their uses. There will be a special Friends' preview on the afternoon of Friday 15th March.

To accompany the exhibition the Friends’ have published a book featuring over 60 botanical works of art from the exhibition. This will be available for sale at a price of $25.

Library Connect, February 2019

The February 2019 edition of Library Connect (PDF, 522 kB) includes:

  • A new A-Z alphabet book, Alphabotanical, featuring botanical illustrations of Australian native plants;
  • Opportunities for Friends to view Dr Gillian Scott’s award-winning Australian mistletoe watercolour paintings in the Library;
  • Other new books and topics.

A picnic on the lawn among the Gum Trees… Children dancing to the music… The sound of Kookaburras preparing for nightfall…. What better way to spend a warm summer evening in Canberra?

The Australian National Botanic Gardens’ popular Summer Sounds concerts will be held during the first two weekends of February, featuring some of Canberra's best-loved bands, street food stalls and dance workshops on the Eucalypt Lawn.

Bring your own picnic or sample the delicious food and drinks on offer. Save the dates and book your family and friends to join you.
