Laura Johnson ‘Koel, Calm and Collected: Responses of Native Canberra Wattlebirds to an Unfamiliar Enemy’

Laura will assess whether Canberran wattlebirds, including those in the ANBG, possess one of the most foundational anti-parasite defences; the ability to recognize the koel, a brood parasite, as an enemy.

Laura Johnson is completing her Honours year at the ANU’s Fenner School having studied enemy recognition capabilities of the red wattlebird and conducted some of her fieldwork at the ANBG.
