ANBG Weeding Work Party

You are here

Saturday, 6 June 2020 - 9:00am to Sunday, 7 June 2020 - 11:45am

What GREAT NEWS that we can RESUME our WEEDING WORK PARTIES now that the COVID-19 restrictions have eased. Even so, there is a change to tea arrangements on this occasion (see below).

It is great to see how the trees and other plants have been recovering after the big hail-storm in January. The steady rain that we have had since has helped, too. One Frogwatch site was dry and is now 1.2m deep, another was less than 30cm deep and is now 1.7m deep. Similar changes for our other Frogwatch sites. We are looking forward to the spring walks and surveys.

The weeds have loved the rain, too. Our wonderful weeders are very keen and looking forward to the … Next weeding work party   … Which is planned for:

Date: Saturday, 6 June 2020, 9.00am to 12:00noon

We shall focus on the small remaining area of woodland in the south west corner of the Black Mountain Nature Reserve.

Meet: Caswell Drive entry on the mountain side.
Drive from Belconnen Way southwards along Caswell Drive towards Glenloch Interchange, Woden, or Tuggeranong. Note the yellow diamond shape advisory sign showing access road on left (mountain side) and the blue and white “P” sign for parking. Pull into the carpark carefully. Look for banners.

Bring:  Everyone is welcome. On this occasion, please,
bring your own morning coffee or tea and snacks.
bring your own tools if you have them, e.g. secateurs, small digging tool, lopper, and/or pruning saw.

Wear:  hat, sunscreen, long-sleeved shirt, long pants, gloves, stout shoes.

We shall break for morning tea at about 10:30am

Please book: if you are planning to come, please email your name and phone number to friendsofblackmountain@gmail.com or  phone 0437 298 711.  Having your contact number helps us to let you know if arrangements need to change at the last minute (for example, adverse weather conditions).

If you need further information, please contact me by email or phone 0437 298 711.
We look forward to hearing from you, and seeing you at our next weeding work party.

Happy weeding,

Linda
