To mark the 50th anniversary of the official inauguration of Lake Burley Griffin on 17 October Dianne will present images of its construction and landscaping.

Dr Dianne Firth, Adjunct Associate Professor at the University of Canberra, researched Lake Burley Griffin for her PhD dissertation. Following a career in academia and landscape practice she is now Deputy Chairperson of the ACT Heritage Council, a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Landscape Architects, a member of the Land Development Agency Design Review Panel and a member of the Place Names Committee. Her current research focus is on theory and practice in landscape architecture, including landscape design, landscape management, Canberra landscapes, urban trees and landscape heritage. As an artist she observes and captures ideas and issues from landscapes using many formats such as photographs, drawings and textiles, particularly quilts.
