The Botanic Art Group's 17th Exhibition – 'Bush Fragrance' – is on display at the Visitor Centre from 6 April to 5 May 2024, displaying artworks of native plants with an aroma or essence.

Many native flora are used to produce commercial products such as flower essences, perfumes and medicinal and cleaning products. On a personal level many people notice that familiar fragrances can evoke powerful memories. The exhibition this year highlights some of these plants in a variety of media including watercolours, acrylics, coloured pencil, pen and ink, mixed media and etchings.

Several works have been chosen to be donated by the Friends to the Gardens' permanent collection. As in previous years, there is also a work to be won by the lucky winner of a raffle. The Botanic Art Group will donate a proportion of the proceeds of the exhibition to the Friends to support the Gardens.

The paintings and drawings on show strive to combine accurate and clear illustration of the plant with a visually compelling and aesthetically rewarding composition.

As well as the framed works, there are also some unframed works, and a selection of greeting cards by the members of the Group.
