We are celebrating the 10th anniversary of the exhibition of botanical artwork at the Gardens this year.  A special preview was arranged for Friends on Friday 17 March from 1.00pm to 4.30pm.  The official opening followed in the gallery of the Visitors Centre at 5.30pm for 6.00pm.  Sadly the opening was by invitation only, due to the limited space available.  All paintings were for sale so Friends had one of the first opportunities to purchase work at the preview.  Friends will have received a bookmark included in the December Fronds edition, which featured drawings by Morgyn Phillips and Pat Morris, two of the artworks for sale in the exhibition.

The exhibition, which comprises work using a variety of mediums, was open to the general public from Saturday 18 March until noon on Monday 17 April.  All artwork exhibited portrayed native Australian plants, many of which can be found in the Gardens.  As part of the celebrations we again featured a special display of eucalypts for a short time.  National Eucalypt Day is 23 March.  This section proved very popular last year because it was comprised mainly of matted but unframed paintings.

As previously, a member from one of the three Botanic Art Groups was available during the exhibition to answer any questions.  There was also a selection of cards and bookmarks for sale and a fund raising raffle.   All money from commissions on the sale of paintings and from the raffle will be donated to the Friends.  Thank you to all who visited the exhibition.
