Plant sale, April 2012

Over 1500 plants, of over 120 different species, went on sale at the Growing Friends autumn plant sale on Saturday 14 April. The Growing Friends run plant sales every autumn and spring, selling plants that have been propagated from cuttings taken from the living collection in the Botanic Gardens.

On this occasion, around 2/3 of the plants on offer were sold to keen gardeners looking for quality Australian plants. Many are of species rarely seen at commercial nurseries. At this sale, the Growing Friends raised around $3500 which, with other funds raised by the Friends, will be used to support the Botanic Gardens.

The next plant sale will be in springtime 2012. Watch this website for advance notice, including a list of plants to be sold with details of growth habits and horticultural advice.
