Thursday, 29 October 2015 - 12:30pm to 1:30pm

This talk explores the ecology, distribution and lore of the baobab, from ancient times to the present. It takes us on a journey across the Indian Ocean from Africa, through Madagascar to Australia, and ponders on how and when these regal trees might have got from there to here and how they may have changed along the way.

Doug Laing is a retired diplomat with a long fascination in natural history, ornithology and how things in nature are connected. He is an educator at the ANBG, a volunteer guide and a member of the Friends’ Thursday Talks Committee.
