The Friends’ Botanic Art Groups
Annual Exhibition
The 2012 Botanic Art exhibition, which was opened on 12th April by Gai Brodtmann MP, is an opportunity to showcase the work of the two Friends Botanic Art groups. All the paintings are of Australian plants. This year there is a focus on bush tucker, with twenty-nine of the seventy paintings being of bush tucker plants.
The paintings exhibited are mostly of plants from the ANBG. Most of the paintings are for sale. A percentage of the sales is given to the Friends to support the many projects funded by them.
A member of one of the groups will be available in the Visitor Centre every day to talk to you about the Botanic Art group and about the paintings. As well as the paintings, there will also be a selection of smaller items for sale, such as cards and bookmarks. Members of the Friends will have received a complimentary bookmark in their April edition of Fronds.
The exhibition ends on Sunday May 13th, Mother’s Day. Additional paintings will be on sale that weekend, some of them of non-native species. Come along to find that special Mother’s Day present and to join in the kids’ activities.
