2017 Australasian Botanic Gardens Volunteer Guides Conference - Informed Guiding: Discovering the mystery and magic of our Gardens

Accommodation

A block of modestly-priced rooms has been reserved for visiting guides at heritage-listed University House on the Australian National University campus, 1 Balmain Crescent, Acton ACT 2601. The hotel is within walking distance of the Botanic Gardens, the Shine Dome and also the lively restaurant scene at NewActon, near the lake. These rooms will only be held until six weeks before the Conference.

Prices for conference attendees are as follows:

  • Queen rooms with double occupancy from $184
  • Queen rooms with single occupancy $167
  • Twin rooms with twin occupancy $169
  • Twin rooms with single occupancy $152.

Parking in Canberra is now at a premium especially close to the University and is at present costing up to $9.50 for 2-3 hours and $15.70 for a day.  

We advise you to organise your accommodation in plenty of time. September and October are the busiest time of the year in Canberra. The week of the Conference is a parliamentary sitting week, in addition to being a busy time for tourists.
