FRIENDS OF A.N.B.G. PUBLIC FUND

The Public Fund was established in 2004. It operates under provisions of the Income Tax Assessment Act that allow approved environmental organizations to seek tax-deductible donations.

The Public Fund aims to attract donations to finance worthwhile projects within the Gardens – projects of the kind that could not be financed from the Gardens’ budget. The first project to be financed from the Public Fund was an architect-designed shelter adjacent to the Rock Garden Lawn.
It was opened in March 2007 by Her Excellency Mrs Marlena Jeffery.
The cost of that project was $48,000.

The second project to be funded was a website on Australian lichens which may be found at http://www.anbg.gov.au/lichen/index.html. This was developed by Heino Lepp, Honorary Associate in the Gardens' Cryptogam Herbarium and was officially launched on 10 April 2011.

The third project, which was launched on 9 May 2011, are Environmental Monitoring Stations to demonstrate microclimates within the Gardens.

We invite all who admire and enjoy the Gardens to support its development in this way. A brochure giving details of the Public Fund is available from the Visitors Centre, and can be downloaded from this website.

The present Management Committee of the Public Fund is:

N. Page,    G. Hay,   S Serjeantson,   M. Jones,   P. Wicksteed.
