The Botanic Gardens’ new electrically powered mini bus will start operating in June this year. Ride, Stop and Talk Tours will run at 1.00 pm on Saturdays and Sundays, starting at the Visitor Centre. More tours may be offered in the future. There will be a small charge – see the Gardens’ website for details.
Helping the Gardens Grow
We are a diverse group of people who love and support our beautiful Gardens – the world’s largest collection of Australian native plants. We have an extensive program of talks, visits and social events. There are many opportunities for members and visitors to meet, learn, grow and enjoy the riches of this very special place. This website will help you find events that most interest you.
We were formed in 1990 as a community support group for the Gardens. Since then we have raised and spent around $½ million on projects in the Gardens and now have 1700 members. And we support the Gardens in many other ways, such as leading guided walks to show visitors the wonders of the Gardens, and hands on support of research programs.

On Saturday evening, 28 April, 60 members of the Friends experienced a magical walk through the newly lit rainforest gully (a Friends funded project).

Over 1500 plants, of over 120 different species, went on sale at the Growing Friends autumn plant sale on Saturday 14 April.

We launched this new website on 16 April 2012. It is the culmination of over a year’s work, involving many members of the Friends, especially the various sub-groups and committees which make the organisation so vibrant and interesting.
